The Ground Rules

Greg Thill told ABC News in October 2017 that if Luke was that serious they would need to set ground rules. “We told him he had to have the financial responsibility of it.” His parents were not holding out on him when they informed him that it would be up to him to fund his own project. This was another essential lesson that the young man was going to learn, one that would hold him in good stead for the rest of his life.

Despite the three rules stating that Luke was to handle the project independently Greg had no intention of leaving his son to battle with such a big project. Luke was blessed with the constant guidance of his father throughout the project as his father worked alongside him in building the tiny home. However, Luke was able to frame a structure, wire the compact house and deal with adults during the project. This taught Luke many important life lessons about financial decisions and responsible thinking.
