No Time For Polite Conversation
On the way back from delivering another table their order, Courtney stopped to take the solitary policeman’s lunch order. While doing so, she did what she did with most of her customers, and in an effort to make them feel wlecome she tried to spark a polite conversation with the officer. However, it seemed he was in no mood for a chat, which made the encounter slightly awkward for Courtney.

Absent Father
Courtney didn’t mind. She had been a waitress for long enough to know not to take every customer’s attitude personally, as you never quite know someone else’s story or day. Today, anyway, Courtney was also preoccupied as she was struggling to make amends with the father of her child; even though she made the effort, she had not heard from him for quite some time, and worried, as a young mom-to-be, if her baby’s dad would be in their lives at all.
