Shield Your Windshield

Whether it is summer or winter, keeping your windshield covered up can really help in more extreme weather. A sunshade is great for keeping your car cool in the summer, making those first moments in the car on a hot summer’s day much more bearable – but a winter version is just as useful, if not more, depending on where you are. Use a blanket, a tarp, or even a plastic tablecloth would do the trick nicely, and place it on the outside of the windshield, and hold it in place with something heavy on the sides, or tie over the wing mirrors. Put something over the windshield wipers so as to keep them away from the glass – and your windshield is sorted.

Nail Polish to the Rescue

For at least half the population it is common knowledge that clear nail polish can help stop tears in pantyhose from getting bigger. But what everybody doesn’t know is that you can use clear nail polish as another prevention strategy, and for something which could also prevent some serious injuries. Tiny cracks can appear in your windshield, from a pebble on the road, something falling from a tree, or any other unexpected tiny occurrence. The problem is that if you leave these cracks unattended to, they could get bigger and worse still, the glass could crack completely. For a temporary solution that comfortably buys you time, apply a generous amount of the clear nail polish to the fractures as soon as possible which should prevent the windshield from cracking further. Obviously, this is not a long term solution and is not a solution at all for any major damage.
