When it comes to fashion, it’s sometimes easy to get the color of something horribly wrong, but on the positive side again when it’s right, it’s perfectly right. The selection of colors for this year can be described as just such colors, so knowing which of these are the right fit for us is the personal part of the experience we need to pay careful attention to. The trending colors this season have added an upbeat to the winter/autumn waltz making it a refreshing, rhythmic sort of cha-cha with a kind of spiciness contrasted against creamy atmospheric shades.

Coral

Coral pink is such a light, refreshing hue and beloved by many, which is evident as Pantone has chosen it as one of the top colors of the year! Worn as clothing, a coral pink blouse can brighten up a corporate look. On the runway, coral pink was everywhere from cute cut-away dresses showing sassy peaks of skin to full suits and waist-coats. You can’t go wrong with coral pink! In makeup, you can use coral pink to great effect with the watercolor eye trend.

Whites

White is a power color, it represents so much symbolically and also lends itself to extremes in fashion. It is featuring more predominantly than ever this summer in the form of dresses. Long, floaty, feminine styles with lace, macrame, and bows as trimmings. It’s light and ethereal and when used in the right way can be demurely cheeky too! Pair it with heavy boots and chunky earrings for a fierce look, brogues, and a jaunty cap for something fun, and light, strappy sandals with loose curls for that summery goddess look.

Stripes

If stripes ever go out of fashion, it’s never long before they’re back, no exception this year. The trending colors for this year include Classic Blue, Chive, Flame Scarlet, and Orange Peel, all very strong colors that pair well white shades. Mosaic Blue, Biscay Green, and Faded Denim are also desirable colors again, and these lend themselves so well to stripes, bringing a more sophisticated presence to the fun factor of stripes.

Salmon-Pink

Leatrice Eiseman of Pantone Colour Institute said recently that society is letting go of gendered colors. This is very much the case with salmon pink, which can be spotted in numerous men’s fashion brands as collared shirts, summer shorts, caps, and even suits! Salmon pink suits most skin tones and pairs very well with neutrals like white, greys, and tan. It can also go well with denim blues or even eggplant for those who aren’t afraid of color.

Yellow

Sunlight is the softer of the yellows for this season, an excellent shade for a midsummer evening on the marina or a picnic luncheon. While the eye-catching and powerful Saffron is the choice for the bold, brighter shade of yellow this year, and while nearly all yellows go well with browns, we suggest trying out Cinnamon Stick to compliment the saffron or lend an earthy tone with the blues and greens.
